Garden Tour 2012

A Place to Pause

A favorite ‘greener’ gardens concept of utilizing the front yard as an outdoor living space, rather than a landscape for looks only, is successfully used here. In a relatively shallow front yard, these homeowners have created a place topause and enjoy.

A wide brick walkway and terraced walls of brick and stone provide a welcoming entry to this home. A variety of hardscape materials (ie. Brick, stone, pavers, slate and Mexican beach pebbles) add interest, color and texture to the garden. Decorative pottery, outdoor furniture and accent lighting also accessorize the space.

A small patio of interlocking pavers shaded by Japanese Maples provides a seating area to enjoy the sound of the tiered fountain and admire the garden. Mature plantings of Italian Stone Pine, Juniper, Heavenly Bamboo, Lantana, Cotoneaster and Oregon Grape are wise choices for this water conscious landscape.
